Your Drawing Space

Are you an artist - or is there an artist inside you dying to get out? If so you should utilize your talent to its full potential!

In order to do that you will need inspiration. Having a special area or room for working in will help to motivate you as well as keep you organized. It doesn't matter if you have a corner of a room or an entire art studio, if you do not furnish it correctly your full potential cannot be realized.

To start, consider lighting. Your workspace should be well-lit with natural light or at least use light bulbs that do not glare or change the natural coloring of things. Since you will be in this area for long periods of time you should ensure that it is a comfortable space.

Be sure to have a comfortable chair available. You might also want to consider some of your routine needs, such as a phone and a computer. Additionally, you should keep snacks and drinks conveniently available. If at all possible choose a location that will be free from distractions.

Obviously you will have lots of art supplies so you will need shelfing or cabinet space for storage.
Believe me, I know a work area ends up being cluttered during the creative process - that is why it is important to start out with organization. Besides making it easier to find what you want and need a clean and organized area is more conducive to creativity.

One additional thought that you should "decorate" your space with things that inspire and motivate you. Whether that is favorite artwork of your own or of someone else. It might be that you enjoy candles or seeing a beautiful vase of flowers. Whatever it is that motivates you on a personal level is what should be found in this space. Make this little area 'your' little area.
